Fairy Tales with a 21st Century Twist
Ms. Dixon’s 5th period language arts class participated in the GLIDES program at Tequesta Trace Middle School. It was such an exciting and fresh new way to teach the elements of a fairytale with a modern twist.
As the world continues to progress in technology with amazing leaps of advancement, our schools must reflect the necessary preparations needed to compete as well as soar beyond what has already been discovered in technology-based learning environments.
The students started with a favored fairytale and studied the characteristics of the story. Each group developed an idea, and Ms. Dixon helped to edit the story’s features. Students wrote a script of the fairytale in a modern day setting for their Podcast created on Garageband. Students then decided to visually enhance their Podcast.
This project-based learning experience was a phenomenal adventure.
